The Head of the Refugees office in Yambio confirms that World Refugee Day will be celebrated at Makpandu Refugees Settlement of Gbudue State under the theme: ‘Step with the refugees’.
Jackson Opaka says UNHCR and other partners will host the event at the refugee farmland to encourage cultivation among them. Radio Anisa reports.
He mentions that the UN agency and other humanitarian organizations will continue to support the refugees on livelihood projects.
A refugee farmer Parangayo Munganga calls on all citizens to join the celebration.
He adds that farmers will be sharing the farm products with their donors.
Makpandu Refugees Camp is home to over 4,000 refugees from Congo, Eretria, Sudan, Central African Republic and Ethiopia.
The international day of the refugee is annually celebrated on June 20th to remember the plight of refugees who crossed borders because of conflict to sort refuge in other countries
