The citizens of Tonj State on Wednesday blamed the Municipal Council for not maintaining hygiene and sanitation in the town.
Kongor Akuoch, says maintaining cleanliness in the town is work of the government that’s why money are collected from shopkeepers who are operating the market to pay workers, Don Bosco Radio reports.
Due to lack of paying workers, its leads to the dirty of the town, he adds.
Yar Chol, a tea seller in Malith Market says the Municipality is not following its work and do collect money from shopkeepers for the cleaning.
Teresa Achol Angok, other tea seller in Malith market, says it is a collective responsibility of both the government and shopkeepers to keep hygiene and sanitation.
The speakers say the dirt inside the town especially Malith Market will lead to breakout of cholera in the town.
Don Bosco Radio could not reach the authorities of the Municipality for comment.
