National Security releases Journalist in Western Lakes State

South Sudan National Security Service on Tuesday morning released journalist detained on Monday evening at Rumbek State Hospital.
 
The journalist is working for state own Radio Rumbek 98 FM and report to different media house including Juba Monitor and Gurtong Trust.
 
Mabor Riak Magok told CRN that he was arrested while trying to interview suspected patient accused to be behind the killing of national security personnel at Aduel.
 
‘I went to the state hospital, looking for medical personnel working in surgical ward for an interview. When I failed to get them, I decided to reach patient wounded during the fight between Gelweng youth and security forces which were coming from Juba’, he explained.
 
The Journalist also reveals that National Security guy guarding the patient immediately told him not to leave after talking to the patient.
 
‘The group of NSS came and I was taken to Makoi’s National Security offices, were I have spent my night in the cell but they didn’t beat me’ he stated.
 
Mabor Riak Magok was later released on Tuesday afternoon from detention after spending a night at Makoi’s National Security centre in Rumbek.
 
The Journalist is currently working as freelancer to Radio Rumbek 98 FM,  Juba Monitor and Gurtong Trust as state correspondent.
 
Mabor Riak Magok is also Secretary-General of the Union of Journalist of South Sudan in Lakes region.
 
There have been reported cases of illegal detention and telephone threats to the local journalists since the pupils staged peaceful demonstration that resulted into destruction last week.
