The Catholic Bishop of Torit Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla on Saturday concluded his two-week long visit to the Eastern Deanery.
According to Radio Emmanuel, Bishop’s pastoral visit was to acquaint himself and listening to challenges facing the parishes in the Deanery.
The dean of the Eastern Deanery Fr Paul Lomana says lack of priests in some parishes affects pastoral work in the area.
He explains that St Patrick Missionaries Fathers evacuated some parishes like Namourupus and Nyangachor due to poor roads and network services.
Fr Lomana says the visit of the Bishop boosted the moral of the majority in the Far East who lost hope of staying without priests.
Parishes Bishop Stephen Ameyu visited include St Joseph the Worker in Kimotong, Our Lady Of Sorrow in Kapoeta, St Mary Magdalene in Riwoto, St Joseph husband of Mary in Narus among several parishes in the Eastern Denary.
He postponed and visiting Sacred Heart Chuckudum Parish due to poor road condition, but promises to include the area during the visit to the Central Deanery.
