The United Nations is calling on South Sudan’s parties to the Revitalised agreement to implement the deal.
UNMISS Acting Head office of Torit, Bashir Allegele, expresses their commitment in protecting the lives of civilians.
He says over 3000 UN peacekeepers have lost their lives since 1949.
‘Today we have more than 3800 military police and civilians that have lost their lives since 1949 in these 72 missions to ensure that other people have peace in their countries. We have to continue the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement so that South Sudan will achieve peace, sustainability, development and progress in the near future’.
UN peacekeeping member Colonel Kalpa Nakarkii assures citizens of working for peace and protecting civilians.
He says it’s a pleasure to provide civic protection and implement the UN mandate.
The officials were Speaking at UNMISS compound during the 72 anniversary of the International UN peace keepers day on Wednesday in Torit.
