Joint Military Ceasefire Committee or JMCC has Friday arrived Torit to assess the suitability of cantonment sites in the state to contain forces ahead of the transitional period.
The team that comprises of seven members from SSPDF, SPLA in Opposition and CTSAMM will be visiting Nyara and Aswa cantonment sites including SSPDF Barracks in Torit Town.
Speaking to journalists at the SPLM office, Public Relations Officer for the team Colonel Lam Paul Gabriel says any site that is not recommended during the assessment will be relocated.
Col. Lam Paul adds that similar exercises are happening across the country in order to ensure formation of the transitional government in November.
He says all Three Thousand 3,000 forces are expected to be in the cantonment sites and by 15th of June they will start training.
Meanwhile, Governor of Torit State Tobiolo Alberio Oromo in his welcoming remarks appreciates JMCC’s commitment towards implementation of the agreement.
He calls on South Sudanese to collectively contribute in the process for lasting peace to prevail.
According to JMCC; besides assessment of the cantonment sites, the team will also continue disseminating the peace agreement in Torit State for two days before heading to Kapoeta State.
