The European Union or EU has approved 30 million Euros to support ongoing efforts to help the most vulnerable people in South Sudan.

In a press release to Good News Radio, it says that the funds are part of the Commission’s seven adopted new programmes and additional funds for Horn of Africa.

The donation will be used to increased access to primary and secondary education for children in remote areas and access to health services, including nutrition for pregnant women and children less than five years.

EU Ambassador to South Sudan Dr Sinead Walsh says the support is very crucial to the future of the peace process and a better opportunity for the citizens to overcome inequalities, poverty and deficiency of fundamental rights.

The other countries to benefit from the EU donation are Sudan, (Darfur region), Ethiopia (Gambella region) and the Great Lakes region; Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
