Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations or FAO in Western Lakes on Tuesday launched the distribution of seeds in Matangai residential area.
The distribution under the theme: ‘Time for Hunger Free state, Put Farming First’, was done in partnership with the state ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
FAO representative, Joseph Taban confirms the launch of seeds distribution which includes sorghum, maize, cow peas, okra and tomato.
Farming tools, including hoes were also given to the beneficiaries.
Minister of Animal Resources, Ezekiel Thiang Mangar appreciates the initiative done by FAO for the timely distribution of seeds as rainy season begins.
Thiang appeals to the beneficiaries to cultivate the seeds and avoid selling them in the markets.
One of the beneficiaries, Marial Abel expresses his gratitude to FAO for helping them with seeds.
Another distribution of seeds is also expected to take place in other counties of Western Lakes States.
