Parliament urges armed groups to respond to President Kiir’s amnesty

The Speaker of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly is calling on the opposition groups that did not sign the peace agreement to respond to President Salva Kiir’s call to return home.
 
Anthony Lino Makana also calls on the countries hosting the opposition to encourage them to come back home.
 
‘We call and urge those political leaders and armed groups who have not yet signed the revitalized agreement on the resolution of conflict in South Sudan to respect the ceasefire and embrace the peace process. We also urge the countries hosting them to help encourage them to come back home and respond to the call of the President for amnesty’, he appeals.
 
The Speaker also urges commanders to direct their soldiers well and take measures to build trust between them and civilians.
 
‘Despite some positive development, we urge all our commanders to keep soldiers inline and take measures to build confidence between them and the civilians’, Lino Makana reiterate.
