South Sudan commemorates World Press Freedom Day

Media journalists and stakeholders celebrated the World Press Freedom Day at Palm Africa Hotel in Juba on Thursday.
 
The celebration was under the theme: ‘Media for democracy and peace: Journalism key role in promoting sustainable peace and democracy’.
 
The chairperson organizing committee Irene Ayaa explains that the event was postponed due to the death of veteran Journalist Alfred Taban to allow media practitioners to pay tributes to the late hero.
 
Chairperson of Association of Media Development in South Sudan Mary Ajith urges authorities to show their commitment to the signed peace deal by allowing the media to operate freely.
 
The speakers were talking during the National World Press Freedom Day organized by AMDISS with Support from UNESCO on Thursday in Juba.
