DARD and SAFERWORLD conduct community peace dialogue in Gok State

The Disabled Agency for Rehabilitation and Development or DARD in partnership with SAFERWORLD on Tuesday organized community peace dialogue between the five sections of Joth Mayar County in Gok State.
 
The community four-day dialogue was organized under the theme: ‘Make peace to fight hunger’ in the society.
 
DARD Project Officer in Gok, Michael Makuac Thok appreciates the state government and its citizens for accepting dialogue for lasting peace in the area.
 
He told the press that the meeting aims at engaging community elders, chiefs, youth, women and general public to restore peace in South Sudan.
 
Peter Machar Maluk, SAFERWORLD Policy Coordinator also told the gathering to maintain peaceful coexistence to eradicate poverty in the country.
 
‘Peace can only be achieve if communities open up and raise issues of concern that can address root causes of the conflict of concern in our society’, he stresses.
 
Gok State Deputy Governor Kongor Deng Kongor applauds communities of the five sections of Joth Mayar for accepting to discuss issues facing them.
 
He calls upon citizens to avoid physical confrontation, but use dialogue as a common way of resolving community conflict.
 
The Deputy Governor appreciates partners for supporting community peace initiative that will enable people to cultivate their gardens during the rainy season.
 
The speakers made the remarks on Wednesday during community peace dialogue in Cueibet Gok State organized by DARD with support from SAFERWORLD and UKAID project.
