The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or RJMEC Deputy Chief of strategy is appealing to South Sudanese journalists to emulate the example of late veteran Alfred Taban.

Thomson Fontaine in a statement says, ‘Just like Alfred, stay true to your crafts, what you believe in, report the news unfiltered and truthfully’.

He acknowledges the progress made during the implementation of the peace process.

Fontaine points out that critical task such as unification of forces and determination on number of states still remain to be undertaken.

On May 3rd the parties agreed to extend the pre-transitional period to 6 months and will commence on May 12 2019.

The agreement document signed by the parties will be submitted to the IGAD Council of Ministers.
