Newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan arrived in Nairobi on Saturday to start his mission.
Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen was received by Kenyan Conference of Catholic Bishops Chairman and Archbishop of Kisumu, Philip Anyolo, Cardinal John Njue and Archbishop of Nyeri Anthony Muheria.
They were accompanied by members of priets, religious, leaders of Catholic Men and Women Associations and choir members from the Archdiocese of Nairobi.
Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Van Megen as the new Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya on February 15 and was named a Nuncio to South Sudan on March 22, 2019.
He will serve concurrently in the two countries just like his predecessor, Archbishop Charles Balvo.
Archbishop Van Megen, 58, has previously served as Apostolic Nuncio to Sudan and Eritrea.
He also served as a Charg√© d’ Affaires in Malawi between from 2010 to 2014.
