The Secretary-General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba is urging South Sudanese to be calm and wait for IGAD’s outcome after May 2nd and 3rd meeting with the parties about the Revitalised Peace Agreement.

Fr. Samuel Abe Joseph says there is no clear message about the pre-transitional period and the formation of government of national unity on May 12th.

He stresses that both parties are raising concerns and people should not be worried.

The priest warns social media users to stop incitement and hate speech.

Pope Francis emphasized that President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar should work together and understand each other, he recalls.

Fr Abe advises citizens not to believe in social media, but to trust the primary sources of information and official statements from the leaders.

He mentions that there is a lot of fake news on the social media which is not trust worthy.

The Secretary-General was speaking on Wednesday to the media about the social media users inciting hatred to create anxiety to public.
