The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit laid a foundation stone for a parish residence at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish.
Bishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla laid the foundation stone after the Easter Monday morning mass at the parish.
The project is estimated to cost about 250,000 US Dollars was initiated to accommodate priests close to the church with funding from the general public.
The Bishop says the funding needed for church development is not only to serve priests but generations.
Torit state governor’s representative, the Minister of Health Paska Hifita acknowledges the importance of having a residence.
She says the government will work hand-in-hand with the church to ensure that the project succeeds.
Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Anthony Odomelam says fund raising for this project will start from the congregations and later to other aid partners.
He believes through God there will be no much hindrance to this project.
The parish priest says construction of the parish residence is expected to kick start in few weeks’ time.
