CTSAMVM reports numerous logistical challenges facing cantonment process

Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism or CTSAMVM reports that there are many logistical challenges affecting the process of cantonment areas.
 
In the opening remarks during the tenth meeting, Chairperson Major General Desta Abiche Ageno says the process of identification and verification of the cantonment areas is far from complete.
 
‘Regarding cantonment, the cantonment areas identified for all armies and verification process are underway, but it is far from complete as there are many logistical challenges. We appreciate the sharing of information by the JDB on this critical task’ he adds
 
South Sudan Opposition Alliance or SSOA Team leader Yiwodo John Otor calls for verification of forces as soon as possible to locate the cantonment areas.
 
‘Really we have some issues we need to concentrate on, issues of violations, sexual violence and other issues. As stated by the Chairman, cantonment of forces and also we need our MBTs in the areas to go and verify as soon as possible the forces on the ground to locate the cantonments’. John stress
 
Major General Bior Leek Kwareng appeals to the government to facilitate the cantonment process.
 
‘I urge the government to assist to facilitate the process of cantonment areas because it is crucial. If we do not facilitate the cantonments with necessary equipment and food, means that all these forces will be scattered and we will not control them. So it is a crucial time also to contain them in their barracks or cantonment sides simply because when you provide food, shelter to the forces, which means we have control them’.
 
TGONU Team leader, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel hopes that peace and security will be restored one day.
 
‘I know peace and security is a basic need for every nation. It is the prerogative of the government to provide and maintain peace and security. Yet in maintaining, or restoring or provision of these basic needs, countries are faced with a lot of challenges. I believe the internal violations and some of the challenges the government is facing, is not different from the rest. But our hope is that one; we will have a government that will restore peace and security to the people’. He laments 
 
The CTSAMVM technical committee is made up of senior generals from the parties the Revitalized Agreement and CTSAMVM leadership.
 
It meets every month to discuss the implementation of the Ceasefire agreement.
