The Police Investigator in Tonj on Thursday clarified to the public that children below eighteen years are not arrested.
David Bol Maguang in his statement to Don Bosco Radio says the entire communities are spreading rumours against police arresting children under the age for crimes.
He points out that the national law of South Sudan and according to human rights’ law, it does not allow a child of below 18 years to be put in jail.
Bol discloses that if the child commits any crime, the parents are the one to be arrested and put into prison because prison is not for children below 18 years.
He advises parents to have good responsibility of their children in order for them to grow up in responsible way of life in the society.
The police investigator made this remark to Don Bosco Radio on Thursday in Tonj.
