UN Mission in South Sudan or UMISS trained fifty-four commanders and generals of South Sudan Defense Forces on child rights’ violation.
The workshop aims at informing participants about the violation of child rights and women in the country.
Deputy Governor William Koji Kirjok defines a child as ‘someone who has no power and needs to be protected’.
He says it is the role of the government to protect children from any violation in the country.
Koji urges the commanders and generals to stop child soldiering in South Sudan.
UNMISS head of field officer in Rumbek says the two-day workshop will focus on the six great violations, including rape, recruiting child soldiers and adoption of children during fighting.
The officer appeals to commanders to work hard to change the situation of citizens in the grass root.
The speakers were speaking to participants during the opening of the two-day workshop in Rumbek.
