The Commissioner of Torit County says the government has deployed organized forces in Lohiri and Pachidi and Lafon Counties of Torit State.
Fermo Peter says the presence of the forces in the area is to protect, normalize the security situation and allow displaced persons return back home safely.
He says the deployment of forces was a response to a call from the civil population.
‘We say you should protect that area so that the ongoing conflict can stop for peace to prevail. The communities were demanding for the deployment of government forces to protect them so that the other community don’t attack the other and that was the reason why we send soldiers and police to protect civilians top counter attacks. The force have gone back and they are now in Lohiri, I assures people that there will be no fighting again’
The commissioner calls on local leaders to urgently intervene on the ongoing mobilization of Lohiri and Pachidi communities which may result into loss of lives.
Commissioner Fermo calls on politicians to stop inciting communities to conflict.
