UN Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS has conducted a consultative workshop on pastoral migration and cattle raiding in the five bordering states of Rumbek.
The conference aims at knowing challenges facing joint border peace committee in Eastern Lakes, Amadi, Gok, Terekeka, Jonglei and Western Lakes States.
Western Lakes Governor, John Deng Mamer appreciates the efforts done by UNMISS for bringing the states together for the peace process.
Mamer urges his fellow Governors to commit themselves and implement the peace agreement in the country.
Head of UNMISS Rumbek Field Officer, Kwame recognised the efforts of peace border committee for making sure there is peace and stability at the grassroots.
He says the meeting will help to address some of the challenges facing border peace committee in the region.
Kwame added that it is good to resolve the issue of cattle rustling for the local people to have peaceful co-existence.
He assures participants that, UN and other partners will continue supporting peace agreement in the country.
The first pastoral migration consultative conference was conducted in Mavolo County of Amadi State in 2017.
