Women in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan have elected a new head of union.
Abdurrahman Ismail said after administrative consultation, Amna Isaiah Angelo, was elected head of Women Union, according to article 23 of the constitution.
National Secretary for Women Affairs, Amani Musa, appeals for education for women.
Amani calls on the community to eradicate bad cultural practices against women in the region.
She says secretariat of women affairs is ready to support Nuba women union.
The secretary said despite of the many challenges women face, Women’s Union have not stopped their activities in the region.
