The people living in Cueibet of Gok are experiencing threats of rats’ outbreak in the state as rainy season approaches.

The damage rats and ant have caused in last year crop production has generally been compared to other natural causes like drought and locusts among others.

Maluak Machut, Gok State Minister of Youth Culture and Sports said the outbreak of rats has affected every family in the state raising many threats to crop production.

‘Almost every household where families members are living have been outnumbered by the presence of rats in the state’, he adds.

Minister Machut calls upon Food and Agricultural Organizations or FAO and other partners to support farmers to chase away rats and ant.

Deputy Governor Kongoor Deng Kongoor says the presence of rats and ants in farmers’ gardens will not allow good crop production in the state.

He also encourages NGOs working in the state to begin community awareness on early crop plantation that can reduce hunger gap.

Kongoor pledges that the state government will always provide security that will allow citizens to cultivate their gardens freely without fear.
