Disable Agency for Rehabilitation Development or DARD in partnership with SAFERWORLD concluded the formation of community action groups in three counties of Gok State.
The three different groups where formed in Mayath County, Bahr Gel County and Cuiebet headquarters respectively with support from UKAID project.
Williams Mapuor Marial SAFERWORLD Regional Coordinator said thirty-member committee in each centers will be meeting monthly in order to discuss issues affecting communities in the state.
He said SAFERWORLD and DARD security project gives community members upper hand during the implementation of the project.
‘This will help community’s selected committee to identify security matters, raise community concern and suggest possible solutions to the problems’, he explains.
Mapuor encouraged committees formed in all three locations to work collaboratively with the community to resolve common issues affecting the society.
John Makuer, senior inspector in the office of the commissioner who represented the government, appreciates DARD and SAFERWORLD for engaging the community in problems solving.
He promises that Gok State government will work closely with the committee in order to address conflict affected communities.
