Minister says there should be measures against soldiers violating rights

There is need for serious security measures to be taken against the soldiers that violating the human rights and killing of people, says Minister of Defense.
 
Kuol Manyang Juuk says if there is no accountability or punishment for violators of the rights of people, violation will encourage them to commit more crimes and become preventive for others.
 
The minister says it is a very serious condition because violation of human rights forces the government to sanctions by UN Security Council and individual countries.
 
The country can be in peace when the army is disciplined and well equipped to make it respected wherever a soldier goes, he advises.
 
There is need to remove conflict related sexual violence by the action plan, minister Manyang notes.
 
The SPLA Matrix of Activities is a compliment to the ‘Action Plan’ drawn in 2017 and is a road map in achieving greater accountability, response and prevention of conflict-related sexual violence and some activities been in progress and some programs yet to be implemented.
 
The minister was speaking on Thursday during the launch of the Action Plan for the South Sudan People’s Defence Force on addressing conflict-related sexual violence in Bilpham.
