Thousands of citizens gathered on Friday in Umdoeren County in the Nuba Mountains to celebrate International Women Day.
Secretary of Women’s Affairs Amani Musa says international women’s day was recognized may years ago after series of meetings, but still women are suffering, Voice of Peace reports.
She mentions that although UN has given rights to women, Shariah Law in Sudan continue restricting them.
The secretary appreciates SPLM-North for their support to fight bad cultural practices against women and encourage girls child education.
Mis Musa states in her remakes that Sudanese women are capable to fight for their rights, justices and equality.
Meanwhile the deputy Chairman of SPLM-North Jogot Mukuwar salutes and recognized the work of many women who tirelessly served since the beginning of the movement.
He also thanks all women who joined SPLA for the struggle.
