A Comboni priest is telling South Sudan government not to engage refugees in returning to the country when there is no commitment for everlasting peace.

Fr Joseph Ukelo discourages government’s idea of wanting South Sudanese in exile to return home without an assured guarantee for peaceful stay, Radio Emmanuel reports.

He says refugees should remain in camps until there is a thorough change in the minds of government for total peace.

Fr Ukelo puts questions on the credibility of South Sudanese leaders in bringing a genuine peace to citizens.

He stresses that real peace must come from the bottom of their hearts.

Earlier this week, Torit State governor during launch of dissemination of the revitalized peace agreement promised to inform refugees on the presence of peace in the country to return home.
