The Deputy Chief of Strategy in the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or RJMEC appeals to radio stations in South Sudan to bring together different political parties to talk about peace and reconciliation in the country.

Thomson Fontaine says if radio stations are able to give people the information they need they will create a big positive impact.

Dr. Fontaine confirms that peace has been fairly established across the country though there are few areas where conflict is still visible.

He says radio is the most effective and efficient way to reach population within the shortest time.

Chairperson of the Media Authority Atong Majok says radio journalists should be mindful of the rights of victims when reporting issues like rape to avoid the stigma.

Atong adds that radio journalists should try their best to help the justice process in such cases, but not inflict pain on the victim twice by shaming her.

Both speakers spoke to Catholic Radio Network or CRN on the eve of World Radio Day on a special program marking World Radio Day in Juba.
