The Director-General of the national Ministry of Health says parents fear to provide sexual and reproductive health awareness to their grown up children.
Dr Alex Dimiti says in South Sudan there is a lot of restriction on the sexual health and consideration that it is a taboo even at the hospital level.
The complications of abortion in the country and there is no law that support termination of pregnancy, Dimiti adds.
The challenges that face the reproduction and sexual health program will be always addressed, he adds.
Fredrik Schiller, Ambassador of Swiss in South Sudan says their government is concerned about the sexual health program in the country.
He pledges that they will contribute to support the program also in sexual rights.
He advises that in South Sudan this program should be taken in a serious way.
The speakers made their remarks in an informal reception for networking event for sexual and reproductive health and rights, stakeholders hosted by the Embassy of Sweden.
The program aims to improve all citizens’ rights and access to quality services particularly women, girls and marginalized groups in a safe, fair and equitable manner
