The National Ministry of Health and other partners on Monday launched Ebola Vaccinations Exercise Program in Yambio Gbudue State.
The Acting national minister of health Dr. Samson Baba during the official launch confirms the presence of the Ebola Vaccine in Yambio against the deadly virus which is on rise in DR. Congo
He reveals that citizens in Western Equatoria region are at risk and vulnerable because of unrestricted movement of people in the area.
The acting minister cited that, vaccination started with Gbudue State and will soon extend to other risky areas like Tambura, Yei, Nimule and Juba.
Dr. Baba mentioned the government will improve facilities and have Isolation camp in Hai Tarawa two kilo meters away from Yambio town to respond to any suspected case of Ebola
Meanwhile deputy Governor Grace Datiro calls for more awareness campaign in the community because Ebola is a dangerous virus.
The spread of the virus has reached Ituri Province in DR. Congo whereby most business people pass through with goods from Uganda.
Datiro appreciates the Government of South Sudan and partners for the support to Gbudue State which is at great risk of the deadly Ebola virus.
The country director of World Health Organization/WHO Dr. Olushayo Olu says, since they declared the ongoing Ebola outbreak in DR Congo, they identified some number of countries which are at high risk and South Sudan is one of them.
On Monday representatives from National, State governments, and partners, WHO, World Vision, South Sudan Red Cross, UN Agencies and civil Society Organizations held a panel discussion before launching the Ebola Vaccine in Yambio
