Torit governor vows to work for more peace in state

Governor of Torit State has pledged to work in collaboration with the new catholic bishop-elect to ensure that more peace is experienced within local communities who still indulge in conflicts.
 
While addressing Christians during the welcoming ceremony of Bishop-elect Stephen Ameyu at St Peter and Paul Cathedral, Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo says the state government will continue to work jointly with the bishop to bring total peace.
 
He adds that the current peace in the state is due to the church’s commitment.
 
The governor assures Christians that there is peace in the state in spite of some isolated insecurity cases.
 
Monsignor Thomas Oliha Atiya, Apostolic Administrator of Torit Catholic Diocese calls for forgiveness and reconciliation among Christians to have a genuine peace.
 
Even with the signed revitalized peace agreement cases of cattle raiding, land disputes among others are still reported from local communities of Eastern Equatoria.
