Civil society organizations are on Monday petitioning the Minister for Information, Communications Technology and Postal Services, Michael Makuei Lueth over inadequacies of the mobile networks in South Sudan.

Executive Director of Organization for Responsive Governance Rajab Mohandis says members of civil society will submit a petition to the Minister at the Ministry of Information.

The activist in his note says this appeal ‘aims at drawing the attention of the minister to the frustrating inefficiencies of mobile networks in the country’.

He says they will also request his office to take appropriate action to address this concern of public importance.

Mohandis says 70 diverse civil society organizations from across South Sudan, including Organization for Responsive Governance signed this petition.

It is worth noting that MTN and Zain are the only mobile networks operating in the country, Gemtel died and the government closed Vivacell.
