Former Eastern Equatoria State on Thursday organized a preliminary athletics competition ahead of the 4th National unity tournament.
In a press statement, Torit State Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Margaret Idwa says the competition is to select the best athletes to represent Eastern Equatoria in the national tournament in January.
She adds that the competition shows the strong bond the two states share.
Meanwhile, Kapoeta State Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Joseph Kabaka hopes for best athletes to be selected from the competition.
He believes it is high time citizens embarked on sports as a form of peace and unity in the country.
The preliminary athletics competition is organized by JICA, and will start on Thursday comprising 21 athletes; 7 from Kapoeta state and 14 from Torit state.
The best 14 athletes will be selected to participate in the 4th National Unity Tournament which is set to start on 23rd January, 2019 to 3rd February, 2018.
