Tonj Deputy Governor banned two cultural initiations to reduce discrimination among tribes in the state and South Sudan in general.
Francis Marial Abur directs county commissioners, village chiefs Payam and Boma administrators and heads of families to observe the order, Don Bosco Radio reports.
The move came after the deputy governor attended peace conference in Kwajok, capital of Gogrial State.
Chiefs Malong Makuau Tong appreciates the state government for the initiative on the right time.
He says violators in his area will be imprisoned for ten years and six months.
Malou Aru Karthiith says he spoke to his people about the issue four years ago and they responded to him positively and now they are practicing the cultural initiations.
He says the culprits are jailed for six years and six months.
Aru says they also spoke to people in the streets to know their reactions in the development and this is what they had to say.
Government of Tonj State banned the removal of teeth and tattooing or marking of the forehead late last month.
