A Chairperson of women’s union in Tonj state on Wednesday calls on men to consider the thirty five percent given to women participation by national government.
Abuk Agook says not match has been done since the percentage allocation especially in the counties.
She reckons the support given by women during liberation struggle but they continue to suffer while men are comfortably seated.
Agook says women have suffered sexual violence during the conflict, and still continue to be harassed in working places.
She encourages women seek empowerment from early age to be able to deliver services to the communities.
Attorney persecutor Akol Arop says women’s rights have to be protected because they never took one step behind when the nation fought for its right.
He says they used to accompany men up to Ethiopia and that encouraged the men to succeed in liberating the country.
Meanwhile Harmony Children Organization field coordinator, Peter Tong Mading says women and children are vulnerable and that should not be an advantage for men to kill them during violence.
He points out that observing women’s rights needs a collective effort from all levels.
