Jesuits recommit to serve and appeal for peace in South Sudan

The Jesuits in Africa on Monday reaffirms their commitment in South Sudan and appeals for peace in the country after the killing of Fr Victor-Luke Odhiambo.
 
According to Vatican Radio, the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar calls for justice, reconciliation, peace and complete disarmament in South Sudan.
 
It calls upon the African Union, regional governments and the international community to support the implementation of the peace agreement.
 
The Jesuits strongly condemn ‘the horrific murder of Fr. Victor-Luke Odhiambo, on 15 November 2018, in Cuei-bet, South Sudan’, reads the statement.
 
Our hearts go out to the family of Fr Odhiambo, praying that the risen Christ consoles them,’ reads part of the statement.
 
The document was co-signed by Fr. Joseph Afulo, Jesuit Provincial of the Eastern Africa and Fr. Agbonkhianmeghe Orobator, President of the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar.
 
The slain priest was a Principal of Mazzolari Teachers’ College in Cuei-bet, Parish of the catholic Diocese of Rumbek.
