South Sudan is intensifying Ebola surveillance after confirming a suspected case negative in Lainya area of Yei River State near Uganda and the D R Congo.
The World Health Organization deployed a rapid response team to support the packaging and transportation of the sample to Juba which was later sent to Uganda.
Matthew Tut, Director of Public Health Emergency Operations Center, says they tested negative samples from a 30-year-old male hunter from Loka in Lainya County who recently died after suffering symptoms similar to Ebola virus.
He says the results have been confirmed negative on samples collected on the deceased.
There is ongoing surveillance and rapid response and are sending more personnel to Yei and Yambio to do more awareness, says Tut.
