Political leaders to discuss ways of combating hate speech in South Sudan

Political leaders in Juba are expected on Monday November 19 to discuss measures to combat hate speech and enhance freedom of expression in South Sudan.
 
The one-day workshop being organized Human Rights and Political Affairs Divisions of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS will handle manifestations of hate speech in the young country.
 
The notes CRN got says Regional Director of Article 19, Henry O. Maina, will tell participants definitions and analysis of what constitutes hate speech and incitement.
 
He is also expected to give examples of countries within the Africa that have recently adopted strategies or are actively working toward it to prevent hate speech.
 
The participants of the one-day workshop will formulate key messages against hate speech and incitement to violence.
 
Deputy Minister of Information Lily Albino Akol and other national and international dignitaries are anticipated to address the event.
