OXFAM begins conflict mitigation and sensitivity training in Rumbek

Oxfam trains over 40 civil society organizations and members of different state  peace committee began three-day training on conflict sensitivity and mitigation in Rumbek, Western Lakes.
 
The training is to build capacity of the participants of civil society organizations and authority in understanding conflict management for lasting peace in the state.
 
 OXFAM Governance Country Coordinator Muzamil Sebi, said the training will be an integral part of the programming in conflict affected societies.
 
‘This is an approaches and tools to mainstream conflict sensitivity in programme development and implementation’, he adds.
 
The Coordinator stresses that the training will deepen the organization and local authorities conversation on advocacy for peace and conflict transformation.
 
OXFAM Lakes Program Manager Mandela Nelson,  says the three-day training will help CSOs and local authorities to engage leaders in achieving sustainable peace in the society.
 
He reveals that the training will also help their capacity in identifying and analyzing best way of addressing the root causes of the conflict in the community.
 
‘We will achieve sustainable peace and improve service delivery in our society if civil society begins to advocates for the rights of the citizens’, Nelson adds.
 
Director-General in Ministry of Local Government Thon Rengu Majook, told the participants to take the training seriously by disseminating what they will learn in the training.
 
He urges them to work for lasting peace adding that peace is a very important tool that people use in developing the nation.
 
Rengu also encourages civil society organizations to prioritize back to leaning campaign as best way of addressing conflict through citizen’s literacy.
