A local midwife in remote village of Tembera in Heiban County, Nuba Mountains articulates her successful help to pregnant women during delivery.
Awadiya Kutiea explains to Voice of Peace Radio Health Magazine program that she witnesses few referral cases throughout her help to dozens pregnant women.
She mentions that if a woman in labor presents complication she refers her to Mother of Mercy Hospital which is about 14 kilometers from the area.
The tradition midwife states that she got training in county vicinity for two years, but no aid kit was provided to her.
Kutiea remarks that she is training two young ladies to take over her job in the future since she is growing older.
She urges husbands to accompany their pregnant wives to health centers during review periods.
The old midwife appeals to concern health authorities to provide aid kits for better work because most women give birth at their homes due to lack of facilities.
