Peace partners arrive in Eastern Lakes for dialogue

A groups of three joint peace partners on Tuesday visited Yirol, Eastern Lakes to conduct dialogue between Pakam’s and host communities in Pagarau of Yirol East.
 
The partners who include Disable Agency for Rehabilitation and Development or DARD, OXFAM & UNMISS will conduct three-day peace dialogue in the state.
 
Deputy Speaker Chol Kuotwel Manhom told Eastern Lakes’ cabinet that peace dialogue will target Pakam’s communities living in the area to discuss common conflicting issues facing them.
 
The discussion will also involve host communities to talk about and address issue related to cattle theft and criminal activities that may generate more conflict in the area, he adds.
 
Upon team arrival into the Yirol, Governor Mangar Mabuong welcomes the peace partner’s team headed by UNIMISS into the state to conduct their activities.
 
He promises to provide ample security to peace mediators who will be moving in the counties of former Yirol town and eastern part of the state where Pakam have settled.
 
‘There are those youth who are involved in criminal activities like cattle raiding and looting amongst others are disarms because they are terrorizing people’, he adds.
 
Governor Mangar reveals that the state authorities have taken fifty firearms from Pakam’s youth that have refused their arms to be register by the state government.
 
The peace team to Yirol will be an addition to the State Minister of Local Government and county commissioners of eastern part of Yirol East.
