A group of forty women leaders in Lakes States say the appointment in the current government institutions does not meet the thirty-five percent stipulated in the revitalized agreement.

In a statement seen by CRN, the women’s group welcomed few appointments but said there is a need for more women representation.

The women’s leaders urge all political parties to reflect what they have signed in the agreement during the appointment of political leaders.

‘Only few women are appointed in the current government of Lakes States which doesn’t reflect the agreement’, they add.

The group calls upon all women to work hard so that they can be fully represented in the power sharing deal.

The women released a statement during a one-day follow up women monthly coordination forum on how women can participate in the peace implementation process.

According to the revitalized agreement, 35 percent participation of women shall be observed in all appointments to the executive.

It also includes a broad commitment by parties to give due consideration of national diversity, gender and regional representation.
