Local leaders from the three neighboring nations of Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan have forgiven each other during the cross-border peace meeting at Kidepo National Park.
The leaders who headed participants from the three bordering East African countries, pronounced the words of forgiveness at the opening of the peace meeting held on October 14 to 16 at Apoka Park in Northern Uganda.
The prayer words read, ‘For the wrongs that my people have done to you, I asked for forgiveness’, Radio Emmanuel reports.
The Kidepo Park Chief Warden Johnson Muserika, started the forgiveness prayer on behalf of his country and people.
Kapoeta State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore says the prayer on behalf of the South Sudanese team.
Meanwhile, Turkana West County Secretary, Daniel Nanok, prayed on behalf of the Kenyan team.
The Torit State Governor was represented at the meeting by Local Government Minister, Ukidimoi Ogura.
During a short speech, Ukidimoi said Torit State will cooperate with the regional governments to promote cross border peace.
The leaders made the statements while attending the cross border peace meeting last week at Apoka Park in Uganda.
