Cross Border peace meeting ends with calls for action

Cross border peace conference ends on Monday in Uganda with calls to implement all past resolutions brought up in previous meetings.
 
The organized event at Apoka – Kidepo National park brought together government and church representatives from Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan.
 
The meeting is part of several peace dialogues held in the past to eradicate cross border conflict and promote peace.
 
It is a continuous effort by local church and government to see that cattle raiding and poaching are replaced with alternative livelihoods projects for communities.
 
The participants identified priorities areas like common markets, feeder roads to promote business and connect communities.
 
They also recommends that communities in South Sudan to be educated on the importance and economic benefits of environment and wildlife conservation.
 
The meeting was organized by the Catholic Diocese of Kotido with funding from PAX Netherlands.
