East African Legislative Assembly begins in Geneva

The East African Legislative Assembly or EALA 139th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly began on Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland with 1000 MPs.
 
The Assembly is discussing fake news, harassment in parliaments, human rights, disarmament, counter-terrorism, Sustainable Development Goals and migration.
 
Speaker Kenneth Lusaka of Kenya, Rebecca Kadaga of Uganda and Anthony Lino Makana of South Sudan are among the participants.
 
EALA Speaker Ngoga Karoli Martin urges legislators to control the value of technological innovations to make initiatives that enhance peace-building tools and support human security around the globe.
 
He urges MPs to maintain communication with their constituencies and influence connections with governments and other stakeholders.
 
Karoli calls for a legislative framework enabling youth to comprehend and embrace technology without manipulation motives that hampers peace and security initiatives.
