Greater lake communities promotes peace through traditional dance

The ethnic communities living in the greater Lakes region on Saturday came together to perform joint cultural dances in a bid to promote peace and dialogue.
 
The event was organised by SAFERWORLD in partnership with Community Empowerment for Progress Organization CEPO under Theme: ‘OUR CULTURES’
‘OUR PEACE’.
 
This event brought cattle keeper mostly youth from Lakes state to compete together through songs that they have composed previously.
 
State Coordinator SAFERWORLD, Mapuor Marial Paweer, says the success was witnessed by all the youth and everyone who participated in the celebrations.
 
Acting Chairperson of Civil Society Organizations Network or CiSON, Hakim Chipuou-nyuc Awur, acknowledges the important of the day to the communities of greater Lakes state and particularly the people of Rumbek where the event is conducted.
 
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in Western Lakes Wol Agany Mazeek, appreciates the role the two Non Governmental Organizations play in promoting peace building and stability in the area.
