The Governor of Gok on Friday said they have collected 2,222 guns from the hands of civilians from the nine counties of the state.
According to Good News Radio, Madhang Majok Meen displayed the collected firearms in presence of UNMISS and state government officials.
He applauds citizens of Gok State for accepting peaceful disarmament, but noticed that more guns are still in the hands of civilians.
The governor urges those possessing illegal fire arms to surrender them to the government in peaceful way.
Majok says 5,000 to 6,000 guns were supposed to be collected according to the SPLA forces in charge of disarmament.
He says peaceful disarmament is over and now his government plans to conducted forceful disarmament anytime.
Governor Madhang says his government is very committed to implement the order of the president of South Sudan.
