At least seven people were confirmed dead and thirty-five others injured in a grenade explosion in Saura, seven kilometers away from Yambio town in Gbudue State.
Information Minister Hussein Enoka Bakumba says the incident happened on Friday night during a local dance as suspected young man threw a hand grenade into the compound where over five hundred people were dancing, Anisa Radio reports.
He confirms to press on Saturday evening that the suspect was arrested and is under investigation in the police custody.
The minister adds that the incident is an individual crime and that people should not worry as the government is in full control of the security.
He encourages the people of Saura to stay calm because the government has already taken steps in protecting its people.
State Police Commissioner, Major General James Monday Enoka, appeals to citizens to stay in their area as the government is working hard to ensure that civilians are safe.
Ruben Samuel Ginisa, the owner of the house where the incident occurred, laments that he lost his brother and sister and another brother is seriously injured in Yambio Hospital.
Among the 35 who were injured and taken to Yambio State Hospital, seven were in a critical condition.
Gbudue State Police Commissioner together with the Information Minister strongly condemn the incident.
Last week alone, three isolated cases have occurred in Yambio County.
