Torit Police spokesperson confirms arrest of man accused of raping a twelve-year-old boy in the state.
Major Mathew Ochan told Radio Emmanuel that the suspect is undergoing investigations as the alleged raped boy is sent for medical checkup at Torit State Hospital.
He says this case is the first of its kind to be reported in the state.
‘We are very much sorry today morning we got information we arrested one suspect 18 years of age .he is arrested for practicing homosexual act against a 12 year old boy. We have launched an investigation which will go to the prosecutor to prove the reality because the boy is sent to hospital for checkup and produce the document that will support the case. If such thing happens, court will prove it. Form 8 was given for the boy to go for check up and the suspect is in custody awaiting trail’
Major Ochan warns communities in Torit and the country at large against practicing same sex or homosexuality.
He says such practice is against the constitution of south Sudan.
According to article 15 of the transitional constitution of the Republic of South Sudan 2011, every person of marriageable age shall have the right to marry a person of the opposite sex and to start a family according to their respective family laws.
The law also says no marriage shall be entered into without the free and full consent of the man and woman intending to marry.
