Police records increase in Pregnancy rate in Tonj

A police officer in Tonj state on Tuesday reveals of an increase in the rate of pregnancy this month compared to other months.
 
Gabriel Inyjur Domaya explains that he is receiving three to four cases of pregnancy every day and perpetrators are brought to book.
 
Don Bosco radio reports that many of this cases brought involved school girls. 
 
The officer explains that those culprits brought to the police cannot be released without approval from the court of law.
 
He says the criminal will be kept for 72 hours, if the case is not forwarded to the court.
 
The officer appeals to the community to understand the role of police in the state.
 
Meanwhile, Acting Director General in the Ministry of Education Gadansio Gum says the teacher’s act and code of conducts was introduced to reduce the rate of pregnancy in the schools.
 
He adds that the education ministry is ready to take measures on those impregnating school girls.
