Nearly 700 returnees return to Torit

The Commissioner of Ayachi County in Torit state reveals of nearly 700 returnees voluntarily returned home since last month.
 
Charles Okumu says majority are expected to arrive soon in the county after many of the heard of the peace agreement signed in Khartoum, Sudan.
 
He says the land owners have requested county authorities to provide a black sheep to bless the land to pave way for the return of the majority from the camps.
 
“in the recent days we have received in Pogee about 180 within the month of august and the beginning of September, in Pajok we have a greater number from the three payams , we have about 500 and something who have just arrived. the number is increasing even NGOs are now engaging them by supporting them giving them some food, washing soap, shelters ,this plastic sheet people are coming. The latest is that the landlord of the land has requested me to at least avail a black ram, I should take it to them to bless the land so that people come at once”
 
Commissioner Okumu encourages the refugees to return home and start building the areas they live in.
 
He says the security situation in the area has return to normal assuring government support for the returnees in the area.
 
I always preach to them and I wrote a letter to them to the camp to their leaders that please you come back because security wise the situation is now good and the government is ready to help and they are really serious and some are really coming even when I was coming last yesterday I meet with some returnees who came from Arua, some came with bicycle they were riding back home and I really welcome them and I appreciate their effort. Because I know them they even know me and they were even happy that I became the commissioner in the area am ready to atleast to invite them and encourage them to come back”
 
The Commissioner spoke to Radio Emmanuel on Monday.
